Washington, DC – Aug. 18, 2022 – Sushi, steak and pizza are new on the menu at Skyland Town Center, as two new restaurants have opened their doors at the mixed-use development in Washington, DC’s Ward 7.

Skyland also welcomed Like That Barber Shop and Skyland Nail Salon and Spa as new options for personal grooming.

Fuji Hibachi and Sushi opened Aug. 8. The 1,500 square foot restaurant features sushi and other Japanese dishes and is open for carry-out orders 11:00am to 9:30pm daily. Fuji plans to transition to full table service this fall, which would make it the first full-service eatery to open at Skyland Town Center. Fuji has a second location in Maryland.

“We could not be more proud of the progress at Skyland Town Center as more neighborhood serving retail comes to fruition,” said Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development John Falcicchio. “Decades in the making and with the financial commitment of the DC Government through tools like Tax Increment Financing, Mayor Bowser is ecstatic that residents will have more options in their neighborhood.”

“Every new opening is a new opportunity for residents of The Crest and the neighborhood to enjoy services right at their doorstep,” said Chris Smith, Chairman and CEO of WC Smith. “We’re proud to see Skyland Town Center fulfilling its promise as place residents can call their own.”

Several other establishments are slated to open at Skyland Town Center through the late summer and early fall, including Tropical Smoothie Café, Mezeh, Maizal and a Lidl grocery store.

“In an area that has historically had limited retailers, we are excited to provide the residents of Wards 7 & 8 with accessible and diverse food and shopping options,” said Bill Dickinson, Executive Director of Brokerage at Rappaport. “We expect all of our tenants to enjoy great success here. We are looking forward to seeing additional retailers open later this year and even more to be announced soon.”

Skyland Town Center is a mixed-use development located at the intersection of Alabama Avenue, Naylor Road, and Good Hope Road SE in Washington’s Ward 7. Rappaport and WC Smith, lead the retail and residential leasing and strategy, respectively.

Roaming Rooster and the first drive-through Starbucks in DC opened at Skyland this year, joining a CVS and a Chase Bank branch. The Crest, a 263-unit multifamily property, opened in April 2021.

The center’s remaining retail and restaurant availabilities range from 1,200 to 12,000 square feet and can be secured by contacting Bill Dickinson, Kyle Gamber or Thomas Bolen III with Rappaport.
