D.C.’s restaurant scene is heating up. So far this year, 55 new restaurants have opened across Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area—outpacing all other retail categories. Full-service restaurants alone make up 25% of those openings, underscoring strong demand for sit-down dining experiences.
This momentum is especially visible along K Street, where hip French-Mediterranean eatery, Barbouzard, opened this week. With additional prime retail spaces still available nearby, the area is becoming a hotspot for operators looking to tap into D.C.’s growing daytime and evening foot traffic.
