On Oct. 24, 2022, The New York Times ran an article headlined “Pickleball is expanding. Tennis is mad.” Seemingly daily there is some reported kerfuffle between the surging number of pickleballers and traditional tennis players over insufficient court space.

Well, here’s a twist you probably didn’t see coming.

The U.S. Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Foundation, headquartered in Herndon, will open an indoor pickleball venue early next year at Rappaport’s Village at Leesburg, consuming two storefronts and nearly 24,000 square feet of the Wegmans-anchored mixed-use center.
