POSITION OVERVIEW

This Retail Advisor role is designed for ambitious individuals seeking a long-term career in commercial real estate brokerage with a comprehensive understanding of the many facets of the industry, specifically grocery-anchored shopping centers, high street retail and mixed-use developments. The Retail Advisor role provides a hands-on apprenticeship, offering daily exposure to negotiations, tenant outreach, LOI drafting, legal processes, and institutional Landlord interaction. This critical role will also work with the retail leasing team, attorneys, and lenders in addition to coordinating and providing information to various other departments within Rappaport. The Retail Advisor’s involvement is not limited by this list and can expand as opportunity and growth allows.

RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS

  • Collaborate retail leasing team on prospecting, through generation of target lists, and follow-through via cold-calling and site visits.
  • Interact with tenants to facilitate prospective tenant financial underwriting, in conjunction with the financial services team, and meet with tenants in-person to facilitate execution of lease documents.
  • Generate retail transaction comparative financial analyses to support the Retail Leasing Team’s presentation and recommendation.
  • Maintain active relationships with various Landlords throughout the properties under management and be knowledgeable about the current retail deals.
  • Assist select members of the Retail Leasing Team with the generation of transaction-specific Letters of Intent (“LOI’s”).
  • Assist in the creation and organization of the electronic Leasing Report for all leased and managed properties in preparation for monthly team meeting with CEO, senior executives, Landlord clients, and for use throughout the organization.
  • Prepare market studies of various submarkets within the Washington, DC Metro Area and work closely with the Marketing team to prepare marketing collateral for publication.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • As this is an apprenticeship-style role, responsibilities will expand over time based on performance, interest, and business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eager to build a career in commercial real estate brokerage.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Intermediate proficiency using AI tools (ChatGPT, MS CoPilot, Gemini, automation tools, etc.) for research, drafting, and analysis.
  • Intellectually curious, seeking to understand the “why” behind deals, markets, and strategy.
  • Be tactful and diplomatic through accurate verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and must be able to work well with all levels of management and staff as well as outside clients.
  • Possess good organization, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Collaboration and mentorship are critical to the success of this role and its apprenticeship nature; thus this position is not eligible for remote work.
