Floriana, one of D.C.’s oldest Italian restaurants, is expanding to Northern Virginia.
An affiliate of owner Jamie Branda has leased the former Virginia’s Darling and Mae’s Market space at 277 S. Washington St. in Old Town Alexandria for the Northern Italian restaurant’s second local location. The roughly 5,800-square-foot eatery, with seating for between 140 and 160, is slated to open as early as June.
The Alexandria location won’t merely be a carbon copy of the original, located at 17th and Q streets NW. The new spot is located inside The Atrium Building, a five-story, 146,500-square-foot office building with ground-floor retail at the corner of South Washington and Duke streets. Floriana will have more room to spread out, with outdoor patio space along with seating in an atrium.
